About

From a young age, Bint Hassan felt an innate calling to help others. Growing up in Sénégal in a large, close-knit family, she was always surrounded by people, whether caring for her siblings, supporting her grandparents, or simply being there for those in need. This nurturing instinct has stayed with her throughout her life, guiding her every step.

When she arrived in the UK in her late 20s, Bint’s desire to make a difference led her to the healthcare field. Her first role was as a Family Support Worker, followed by three years as an Assistant Practitioner with the Health Visiting Team, where she had the privilege of
supporting mothers and their newborns. From baby clinics to home visits and support groups, Bint was able to walk alongside these families during one of life's most precious journeys. The work was deeply rewarding, especially as she witnessed the enthusiasm of extended family members eager to learn and support the new mother and child.

Eventually, Bint transitioned to an Office Administrator role with the Bladder and Bowel Service, but the direct care she had provided was something she missed. It wasn't until the passing of her dear friend Mariama that her passion found a new direction. She realized that
her calling was to support individuals at the end of their lives, guiding them through what can be one of the most intimate and meaningful phases of existence. To build on this newfound passion, Bint earned her certification as an End-of-Life Companion. She is currently exploring end-of-life care from an Islamic perspective, seeking to enrich her understanding and ability to provide compassionate care that aligns with the
spiritual and cultural beliefs of those she serves.

Bint lives in Manchester with her family, balancing her full-time role as an Office Administrator with volunteering to support cancer patients and individuals in end-of-life care.

She stays connected with her family in Senegal and hopes to reunite with them soon.

Outside of work, she finds peace in nature, enjoying long promenades with her family through parks, forests, beaches, lakes, and canals. These moments of tranquillity remind her of the beauty of life and the importance of walking alongside others during their most vulnerable moments.
